Grading: Grades in art class are based on art learning, not on the artwork itself.
OFIS- There will be 1-3 graded projects each quarter.
Project Grading Rubric: Each category gets a grade S, D, or B (see descriptions below)
I Can/Project Objectives- Check "Course" link on website for project objectives.
Project Completion- How complete was the project? Did the student come in to finish if they needed extra time?
Following Direction- Project directions. (Ex: proper care of supplies, following artistic process, correct order of steps followed)
Classroom Behavior- Follows classroom rules and completes classroom job daily
Pride in Work- Uses criticism to make work better. Puts effort into doing their BEST.
Each quarter grade will be determined by using a rubric with the following categories: Average Project Grade, Following Directions, Effort/Pride in Work, and Responsibility/Classroom Job.
The S, D, B Specials grading scale:
(S)Secure-Student has mastered the skill by working independently without additional teacher assistance.
(D)Developing-Student understands concepts, but may still need additional teacher assistance to master the skill.
(B)Beginning-Student struggles to understand the concept with or without additional teacher assistance. OR Student chooses not to participate and therefore teacher cannot assess student ability level.
